Since everyone seems to be doing this poetry Friday thing, I thought it would be fun to join in and try it too! Because of my current interest in all things Faerie, and because I just finished the first three books of the Sisters Grimm series by Michael Buckley, I thought that Puck's soliloquy from the end of A Midsummer Night's Dream would be a good choice:
If we shadows have offended,
Think but this,—and all is mended,—
That you have but slumber'd here
While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream,
Gentles, do not reprehend;
If you pardon, we will mend.
And, as I am an honest Puck,
If we have unearnèd luck
Now to 'scape the serpent's tongue,
We will make amends ere long;
Else the Puck a liar call:
So, good night unto you all.
Give me your hands, if we be friends,
And Robin shall restore amends.

Welcome to the Poetry Party, Sheila ! And thanks for the soliloquy. I confess I always think of Dead Poets Society whenever I hear or read that one...
Oh, I'd forgotten about Dead Poets Society. Thanks for the reminder. I enjoyed your Poetry Friday selection, also!
Cheers! I love that soliloquy.
