National Book Awards finalists 2007

The finalists for the National Book awards have been announced. The finalists for young people's literature are:

Sherman Alexie, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian (Little, Brown & Company)
Kathleen Duey, Skin Hunger: A Resurrection of Magic, Book One (Atheneum Books for Young Readers)
M. Sindy Felin, Touching Snow (Atheneum Books for Young Readers)
Brian Selznick, The Invention of Hugo Cabret (Scholastic Press)
Sara Zarr, Story of a Girl (Little, Brown & Company)

I haven't read any of these, although I will probably be reading Skin Hunger soon, since it was nominated for the Cybils in fantasy and science fiction. But from reviews I've read, this looks like a pretty good crop of books. That's not really surprising when you look at the Young People’s Literature Judges: Elizabeth Partridge (chair),
Pete Hautman, James Howe, Patricia McCormick, and Scott Westerfeld.
