Cybils 2007 Fantasy and Science Fiction Nominations

Updated on November 19

The 2007 Cybils Awards for children's and young adult books opened on October 1 and closes in a couple of days, on November 21. We're up to 88 nominations in the fantasy and science fiction category, which was exactly the number that we had last year! Nominations are only open for 2 more days, so if you've been waiting to nominate, your time has come!

The list of nominations to date appears below. Some of these were nominated in other categories but moved here because we felt that this was the most appropriate category. Likewise, a couple of books nominated here have been moved to other categories, so if you don't see your nomination here, don't panic.

Here's the list of nominations as of November 19:

Dangit, I can't decide which is more worthy: The Titan's Curse or Blackbringer... Fablehaven's good too, but not as. There are some books I've been wanting to read, too, such as The Land of the Silver Apples. The Sea of Trolls was a fantastic book; the characters were really realistic, and... well, they were like actual /people/, not just words and names.

oh dear gods - I have to make a choice amongst a gaggle of fab books that have come out... I may hold off making my nomination to see if any of the books I want to nominate get listed so I can pick something else ! (I've got two Marcus Sedgewick on my list as it is !)

I know. It's so hard to only be able to nominate one. I'm holding off, too, to see what else gets nominated before I choose.

Wow. Looks like I have a LOT of reading to catch up on. I think I have to go with Rick Riordan, since Titan's Curse was utterly fantastic and all three of my library's copies are out, but I did love Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos.

You're right that it's certainly going to be hard to choose, Ms. Yingling. There were so many good books this year. Titan's Curse was good, but I haven't read Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos yet.

2007 has been an incredible, incredible year for our field. I am happy to see the support for this genre amongst readers, librarians, and booksellers.

You're right, Patty. It's really great. I'm sorry that we won't have you on the judging committee this year. I really appreciate the time you put into it last year.

No worries, Sheila. Time has not been my friend these last six months.

I understand. I got the feeling from your blog that you've been pretty busy.
